This weekend, as a sea of pink hats once again filled streets across the globe, women made it known that there is much more work to be done — work we are willing to show up for again,

         and again,

                    and again.

Yet tomorrow has come, and it’s back to our regularly scheduled lives. Likely, the rush of empowerment fades to the background as daily details take over.

So what can you do the other 364 days of the year to bring about change?

It’s simple. I’ll tell you:

Every day, you have the power — the power to choose. From the clothes you wear to the coffee you drink — you vote with your purchases.

Women make 80% of the purchases in this country. According to the Harvard Business Review, “Women now drive the global economy.”

Talk about girl power.

And we don’t just focus on the predictable: food, fitness, beauty, and fashion, but

“women make the decision in the purchases of 94% of home furnishings…92% of vacations…91% of homes… 60% of automobiles…51% of consumer electronics.”

We have the potential to have very loud voices as consumers. And what we buy gives rise to what becomes available to us.

It comes down to this: If you want to see more affordable organic options in the world, buy organic. If you want to see more artists succeed in their work, buy handmade. If you want to see fewer harmful chemicals in your cleaning and beauty products, find the companies who are supporting your values.

Or better yet… make your own.

If every woman in the US replaced her all-purpose cleaner with a non-disposable, homemade version, we would eliminate the need for over a BILLION plastic bottles per year. And that’s just considering the container. Imagine the number of chemicals we would divert from our homes and water systems by using effective, non-toxic ingredients.

How do get started, you ask?
