Do you deal with hard water? If you have what looks like orange or whitish scales left in coffee pots, or around your faucets, then yes, you have hard water. Gently scrub away those unsightly scales with two easy ingredients, that’s all!

TIME: 5 minutes
COSTS: Less than $1

INGREDIENTS:
1 lemon
1 tbsp baking soda

EQUIPMENT:
Soft rag or natural sponge

DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut a lemon in half
2. Sprinkle surface with baking soda and lemon juice
3. Scrub affected area
4. Rinse
5. Repeat if necessary

TRY THIS:
If your hard water stains are really hard to remove, add enough distilled white vinegar – another acid, similar to the lemon- to cover the stain scales and leave overnight. Gently scrub away the next day and rinse.

WASTE NOT:
Buy your lemons with a reusable produce bag, and find baking soda in the bulk section of your local health food store. No bulk section? You can find larger quantities in recyclable cardboard boxes here.
